Diversity with Conversion Vans

Some of the conversion van companies are developing new and inovative products. For instance: Majestic Vans is presently prototyping some travel trailers which will be introduced to the public soon. Midwest Automotive Design, a Sprinter manufacturer, is doing specialty applications such as mobile laboratories, dog grooming vans and mobile offices. They are even offering an RV type Weekender package. This new trend is a reflection of our ever changing mobile society and the new types of jobs that are created for convenience to the consumer. A spacious van platform is ideally suited for diverse applications and flexibility in design. Custom layouts to suit ones needs are becoming more popular in this industy.

  • The success of Sprinters is a direct indication of strong demand for imported vans in US. However, Toyota and other world wide auto makers are somehow kept away. I've been trying to research this - if you know anything about why it happens, please let me know.

  • 1. A company has to produce a chassis that would be in a raw cargo form suitable for a conversion.
    2. That manufacturer has to allow a 2nd stage manufacturer to alter the chassis.
    3. There has to be an acception on in market place for the manufacturer to prototype and then produce these chassis.

The Sprinter is a Mercedes with an excellent turbo diesel engine which has name recognition.
